History of the Guild of Dry Cleaners and Launderers of the Balearic Islands

The Guild of Dry Cleaners and Launderers of the Balearic Islands was founded on May 20, 1978 as a business association that brings together the main companies in the dry cleaning and laundry sector in the Balearic Islands. Since its inception, its primary goal has been to represent and defend the interests of the textile cleaning industry, remaining independent from government administrations and other organizations.

Although the current organization was established in 1978, its activities reflect an earlier artisanal and professional tradition in the region. The guild was founded and revitalized thanks to a group of professionals who aimed to restore and modernize the representation of the craft, adapting it to changes in the market. Throughout its history, it has been active in both training and advising companies and in publicly defending the sector, especially in critical moments (for example, requesting support during the downturn in tourism in 2020).

Main Functions:

Representation and Advocacy: represent the collective interests of the sector before government administrations and other organizations.
Advice and Services: provide technical, legal, and operational support to members.
Training and Development: promote training programs and best practices to modernize the sector.
CCommunication and Visibility: aise awareness of the guild’s challenges and needs in the media and before authorities (a role that became especially evident during the 2020 crisis).

Since its inception, the Guild has been a hub of support and connection for dry cleaners and laundries in the Balearic Islands.

Today, its Board of Directors continues to uphold this spirit, working with dedication and a forward-looking vision to keep fostering the growth of the sector.
